Sandra Bullock’s Oscar Look

sandrabullockoscar

It seems that people are a bit divided on Sandra Bullock’s red lips but they are united in saying her overall look and acceptance speech at the Oscars was a huge success. If you are curious as to how Sandra achieved this flawless, old-Hollywood style glamour, the Beauty Counter Blog has the details.

The Mission: Give Sandra Bullock Best Actress-caliber beauty on the “off chance” she should take home the big prize.

The Glam Squad: Celebrity makeup artist Angela Levin for Chanel Beauty and hairstylist Adir Abergel for Frédéric Fekkai.

The Face: “I wanted Sandra to look like the true movie star she is, so we went with modern-classy Hollywood makeup: dewy skin, soft eyes, and a bold red lip,” Levin says of the look she crafted for Bullock, which started with Chanel’s Sublimage Fluid and Vitalumière Satin Smoothing Fluide Makeup in Shell. Using a brow powder rather than a pencil or a wax to give Bullock’s arches structure, Levin moved on to the eyes, lining both upper and lower lash lines with a brown shadow and opting for three coats of Chanel’s Inimitable Mascara in Noir—the Waterproof version, just in case any trips onto the podium should kick-start the waterworks. The X factor came from Bullock’s red lip, however, which Levin built using Chanel’s new Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Paris, which she also gently dabbed onto the apples of her cheeks—a signature trick to add a bit of warmth.

The Hair: For his part, Abergel wanted to “bring back simplicity,” which he achieved by coating Bullock’s hair with Fekkai’s Silky Straight Ironless Smooth Finish Serum and fashioning a deep side part. He then pulled all of Bullock’s hair over to one side and added a wave at the end—a popular style at the Oscars this year, also spotted on Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet.

The Result: A win over Meryl Streep and the bevy of nude lips and frizzy updos that ruled the red carpet last night.

Jennifer Aniston’s Makeup Secrets

Thanks to the Beauty Counter for the details on Jennifer Aniston’s all-natural, girl next door look!

Love her or hate her, you must admit there’s something compelling about Jennifer Aniston—no, we’re not talking about her personal life here (nor her GQ cover, for that matter). She’s pretty much got the rom-com thing nailed and has been enjoyable in other, less predictable on-screen formats as well (two words: Office Space). We attribute her success to her girl-next-door, all-American, plain-and-simple-but-still-sexy appeal. According to makeup artist Angela Levin, who readied Ms. Aniston for the Marley & Me premiere last night in L.A., the actress’ all-natural look is 100 percent intentional: “She just wants to look and feel great and happy.” Us too—she is so relatable! See below for Levin’s tips on how to put it all together:
The Face

To prep Aniston’s face, Levin used By Terry Lift and Stretch antioxidant serum around her eyes to smooth skin before applying just a touch of Lorac Natural Performance Foundation in NP6. To add a bit of sun-kissed contour, Levin used Rimmel’s Sun Shimmer in medium matte and brushed Bobbi Brown’s Bronzing Powder from Aniston’s temples along her cheekbones. For a rosy glow on the apples of Aniston’s cheeks, Levin mixed a Chanel Crème Lipstick in Coco Red with a hydrating lip treatment and a dab of Sephora Blush Me! in Rose Rebelle 1.
The Eyes

For some (very) understated drama, Levin blended Chanel Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Silvery toward the outer corners of Aniston’s eyes, using the same product in Slate on the lids. She topped this off with Nars Cosmetics Eye Shadow in Violetta on the center of the lids and under the lower lashes as a light smoky liner.
The Lips

With access to a whole host of professional and as-yet-unreleased goodies, Levin dipped into her arsenal and treated Aniston’s lips to Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2009 Glossimer in Mica.

Keri Russell on The View

The ever-flawless Keri Russell was on The View today, talking about her new movie, Bedtime Stories. Of course, what Moxie was most concerned with, was how her skin looked. Of course, it was flawless!
So we did a little snooping to see if we could find out what products Ms. Keri Russell uses. Yes, it may just be excellent genes, but the girl definitely glows!

So recently she was on the cover of Lucky Magazine.

We were able to gather some information about the products that were used for the cover shoot.

For the face they used Chanel Hydramax + Active Tinted Lotion with SPF 15 ($55).

On the cheeks Chanel Blush Duo Tweed Effect in Tweed Corail ($45) went to work for a gorgeous flush.

Chanel Precision Eye Definer in Teak ($28) and Exceptionnel De Chanel Mascara in Smoky Noir ($28) created the most perfect daytime or (in this case) subtle evening look for the eyes.

A swipe of Chanel Aqualumiere Lipstick SPF 15 in Montego ($27) capped off the look completely.

Beauty Post

I am obsessed with beauty products. I have tried blogging about them in the past, but I find that if I spread myself too thin blog-wise, everything suffers. So I am going to bring my clean little secret (get it? clean instead of dirty little secret…because I’m talking about skin cleansers…forget it!) out into my Daily Moxie posts.

Phew! I feel better already.

Ok, here are a few things I am loving.

Nars Orgasm blush. Looks good on everyone! Seriously! I tend to blush very easily and typically don’t even like to apply blush, but this one has just enough peachy-pink tones in it and a little bit of sparkle to work with any complexion!

I bought a number of Chanel products a few months ago and I can’t tell you how glamorous and decadent I felt using these products! The name just says it all…and they smell great too!

Speaking of luxury, is there a woman alive who doesn’t desire the La Mer products? Is it the exorbitant price tag? The knowledge that some of the most successful women in the world adore these products? I’m not sure what it is, but I do know that there is something very exciting in seeing these pale green products adorning my sink.

Ah Kiehls, how you seduce me with your free samples. I have always loved you and have never found my cabinets to be lacking in housing your products. At any given time I will have at least three Kiehls products in circulation.

Basically I want to know what to use to make my skin look as flawless as Joanna Garcia’s. (She is the actress who plays Megan on the CW’s Privileged…a show that I feel guilty about ADORING!)
