Last night I curled up in bed, exhausted from a long day and desperately in need of something to take my mind off work and the tasks that lay ahead. I always have to read before I fall asleep. I need to allow my mind to go somewhere else, somewhere outside of my own life. […]

Last night my sister M called from a hotel in Maine. She’s there for a photo shoot for a profile in Glamour. After detailing the less than glamorous journey she experienced in getting to this tiny town in Maine, she told me about her fascinating travel companion, a famous makeup artist. When my sister started […]
[Continue reading...]The Happiness Found in Doing Things!
I just finished an impressive article from The Huffington Post on The Hidden Key to Happiness. Joe Robinson, author of Don’t Miss Your Life, addresses an interesting attitude about finding and discovering happiness in life. He explains that it is more about the doing then the acquiring. Experiences ultimately bring us more happiness than possessing […]

Workout: Ran 4.5 miles/45 minutes. After a long weekend with too many snacks, the treadmill kicked my butt. I should blame the Cheesecake Factory turkey club but it was just TOO GOOD and I refuse to say anything negative about my beloved club. Right now, as I compile my Christmas list, I’m thinking I might […]

Here’s a pic of me on my way to the gym on Friday. Ran 3 miles. Not a lot but a good start for a beginner runner. I took this picture as I was heading out the door (with my adorable niece who was on her way to play rehearsal). What you can’t see are […]
[Continue reading...]Boot Camp…for Getting Things Done
I was just reading Gretchen Rubin’s latest post on her Happiness Project and what she wrote immediately resonated with me. Instead of paraphrasing or just providing a link to her site, I wanted to post a complete portion of her post. She writes about how she was able to write a book in a month […]
[Continue reading...]Little Brown Dress by Essie
I bought this yesterday on a whim. I was out buying materials for my Halloween costume. I was a Top Gun fighter pilot but very few people were able to figure it out. Probably because I didn’t leave my sunglasses on but the apartment where the party was held was very dark and the sunglasses […]

Beauty Booty
I have been hearing a lot about the La Roche-Posay product line and am thinking that I might need to make a quick trip to CVS tomorrow to snag this little beauty. While I’m there, I think I need to grab some Neutrogena wipes. I am a huge fan of makeup removing wipes in general […]

How much do you love these trick-or-treat bags? I found them over at The Purl Bee and there’s still time before Halloween to make these for the little cuties in your life.

I am in love with this ring! I want it for my middle finger. I think it is so classically elegant and sophisticated. I found this gorgeous ring on Joanna Goddard’s site (which I am now officially obsessed with and have been scrolling through for the better part of an hour). Check out A Cup […]
[Continue reading...]The Beauty of Homemade Food
Stylist Evelina Bratell and photographer Carl Kleiner have come up with the most ingenious (and delicious) way of depicting food in their new book. It is the most visually pleasing look at baking you will ever see. I particularly like the above raspberry cookies.

Thanksgiving Napkins!
I don’t know what has come over me but I have such a tremendous desire to cook, craft and create! (The three C’s!) I may have to pull out my old sewing machine and get to work on these fantastic Thanksgiving napkins! I must admit that I have not used a sewing machine since high […]
My new go-to dinner is so simple and yet completely satisfying and delicious. Marinated steak tips (or just a strip steak cut into bite sized pieces), crumbled blue cheese, baby spinach and a creamy balsamic dressing. Add salt if desired. It takes under 20 minutes to prepare and tastes like a gourmet meal. Enjoy!
On Friday it will be my niece, Sweet P’s, 8th birthday. I still can’t believe that the little girl I watched cling to life with tiny, birdlike fingers will be turning 8! The little girl who arrived three months early, weighing just over 2lbs is now the tallest girl in her class. How does that […]
Busy, busy weekend! Went to a wild and crazy birthday party for a 2-year-old and his 5-year-old brother (they were born 10 days apart). It’s all working out now but once they start asserting their independence, it could become a little difficult for their parents’ to do the joint birthday party thing. Hit downtown Salem […]
A writer whom I very much admire posed an interesting question this week. She wrote a blog post about the struggle to achieve balance in life. She was referring to her own struggles as a working mother. I am not yet a mother, but I am a sister, an aunt, a daughter, a girlfriend and […]

There are so many things I adore about this picture that I don’t even know where to begin. I found it on Style Me Pretty. It was from a California wedding where the bride chose a soft-pink palette with gorgeous floral arrangements including my all time favorite flower, the pink peony. The brilliant photographer, Lori […]
I am so excited about Halloween this year! I’m attending a Halloween costume party, plan on sightseeing in Salem, MA, and am going to decorate to within an inch of my life. This year is going to be all about living life as fully as possible and pulling as much joy from every day. This […]
